PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Working in fast-paced distribution facility, interact with internal and external customers on behalf of the organization; coordinate multiple people and tasks to ensure effective and efficient route operations, provide support to drivers and other department members; and provide information and services while meeting Ace performance standards.

Schedule: Sunday Thursday 5:00pm 1:30am (subject to change depending on the needs of the business)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

Interact with drivers, retailers, outside vendors, and other stakeholders to support the traffic operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Contact carrier representatives and use Ace software and computer systems to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials and set delivery appointments. Prepare documents as necessary to facilitate the efficient and legal transportation of goods using the Ace fleet or other vendor and determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped. Interact with Ace and vendor drivers to do the necessary functions to facilitate traffic functions in accordance with Ace policy and procedures. Record and monitor data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or record-keeping purposes. Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or non-conformance to specifications. Understand and interpret the Ace Hardware Driver Compensation Policy and apply accurately to weekly payroll processing. Understand and interpret the impact of DOT laws and regulations on daily work decisions and activities. Effectively use Microsoft Office Suite, Enterprise Resource Planning Software (e.g. SAP), Warehouse Management System software, Transportation Management Software (e.g. LeanLogistics), and other enterprise software systems and platforms. Organize, monitor and ensure the equal distribution of work among the team, if needed. Filing and other record-keeping as needed. Keep work areas neat and clean. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Using computers and computer system to enter data and process information.

  • Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.

  • Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.

  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.

  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.

  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  • Maintain a safe work environment.

  • The level of autonomy and decision making requirements may vary based on pay grade.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum high school diploma required. Some college education is preferred.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Excellent phone skills including professional phone presence.

  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and changing priorities.

  • Excellent computer skills. Prefer experience with SAP, AS400, Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work in warehouse environment.
