POSITION SUMMARY The Optical Manager is responsible for overseeing the Optical Department. The manager will also work in the capacity as an Optician which will include helping customers select and be fitted for contact lenses and glasses. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Licenses and Certifications Required ABO certification preferred, but not required Educational Requirements Management coursework which could include online courses and on-the-job training in an optical shop preferred Experience Requirements 3-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as Optical Sales Manager/Optician Special Skills or Training Requirements Opticianry skills required Ability to resolve customer and/or employee conflicts A strong leader and mentor who exhibits model behavior, drives optical metrics, and adheres to strict optical standards A clear and effective communicator with ability to break down technical terms for customers into easy to understand language Polished customer service skills and a real ability to understand your shopper#s needs. The ability to handle and seek to resolve customer complaints if they arise, with tact and good outcomes Ability to facilitate, train, coach, and develop excellent, results-oriented, customer-oriented, retail/sales-oriented associates/teams
