The role of the DSP is to teach, encourage, inspire, mentor, influence, instruct, nurture, and praise the individuals that you support. While supporting people with disabilities, you learn their individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning, motivation, and likes and dislikes. After learning each Individual's Life Plan, you follow it closely to ensure health and safety and achieve goals. You assess their needs, positively influence behavior, and provide skills that will all assist them in integrating into their community in the least restrictive environment.
