The Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of the hospital to maintain the facility in a safe, efficient, attractive, and orderly condition. Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, and buildings. Provides basic and advanced repairs to maintain facility equipment, facility systems, exterior property grounds and all facility components. Understanding of basic HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and life/safety systems required in performing these duties. General cleaning, painting, waste removal and basic building care are day to day duties.

Job Requirements

Licenses or Certifications: Valid state driver s license and a passing motor vehicle record check (to be completed upon hire and annually).

Total education, vocational training and experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience in maintenance/engineering, preferably in a health care environment. Electrical license preferred.


  • Basic knowledge of maintenance and operation of HVAC equipment, mechanical equipment, electrical, plumbing, life/safety systems, and grounds maintenance.
  • Familiar with use of power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Must be available for after hours, overtime and call-in emergencies.
  • Ability to read and follow direction.
  • Ability to work efficiently and according to schedule.
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner and communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, supervisor and other hospital employees.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
