Youth Consultation Service (YCS) is a private, non-profit behavioral health and social services agency that has been caring for at risk children and families since 1918 in therapeutic residences, special education schools, in-home and in-community programs throughout NJ. The agency has also expanded its programming to include in-home and residential services for behaviorally challenged, children and young adults on the autism spectrum and intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Currently looking hiring for a Full-Time Personal Assistant in Buena Vista, NJ
(Adult Male Population)

Duties and Responsibilities Include but not limited:

Administers personal care assistance to the consumer such as complete/partial baths which would encompass bath, oral care, dentures, Foley care, hair/nail care, shaving, bed making, and cleaning the surrounding area of the consumer?s room.

Assist in the toileting needs of the consumers, records outputs accurately.

Empties drainage collective devices and completes documentation of BM charting, and toileting schedule.

Assist with the obtaining and recording of the vital signs of the consumer.

Helps the consumer with transferring and lifting, raising consumers in beds and turning residents as directed by the care plan.

Assists with meals- set up consumer?s food, feeding consumers, serving fresh water and nourishments when indicated.

Recognizes the prevention and control of infections for both consumers and staff.

Assist the nurse with various duties such as but not limited to TEDs stocking application, MAFOs, reapplication of oxygen, special mattresses, turning and positioning immobile consumer every two hours.

Assist with the transportation of the consumer to medical appointments.

Recognizes and reports changes in consumer conditions to a nurse and demonstrates knowledge of complications and ask appropriate questions to clarify.

Maintains Consumer Files.

Follows protocol for admission and discharge documentation.

Maintains HIPAA compliance. Protects the consumer?s privacy by insuring data and charts are not left open or unattended.

Documents all medical, dental, and nursing care administered on the appropriate forms.

Communicates clearly and tactfully with other staff, consumers, and families.

Health Counseling.

Provides supportive counseling to clients undergoing medical and dental treatments as needed.

Other Duties Include:

Straightens and cleans consumer?s area. Maintains and labels consumer?s closets, drawers, clothing and personal items.

Completes House/site specific chore list per shift.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

Demonstrates an understanding of basic principles of medical care for the chronically ill consumer.

Demonstrates a basic understanding of psychiatric disorders.

Demonstrates a basic understanding of medications, purpose and side effects.

Demonstrates basic first aid skills.

Demonstrates proper body mechanics and mobility transfer technique to
prevent injuries.

Demonstrates basic care of adults of various age groups.

Interpersonal Skills:

Demonstrates empathy and compassion in conduct towards clients.

Demonstrates respect, cooperation, consideration and tact in dealing with subordinates, peers, supervisors and others.

The employee will cooperate with the licensee and the applicable State department or division licensing unit with any legally mandated inspections or investigations.

Work Schedule: FT - Mon-Fri 3p-11p Requirements Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age

Valid NJ Driver's License

2 - 3 years of previous experience preferred. Skilled nursing facility is a plus!
