To request reasonable accommodation, please contact . Responsibilities Atrium Security Officers will work in conjunction with other Draper Security Officers to staff Atrium Security posts. You will perform a variety of tasks relating to the safety and security of employees and visitors. You will be responsible for identifying prohibited and/or dangerous items being brought into the facility through the screening area. The ASO's will present the first impression of Draper to our visitors and guests, thus, will be expected to perform all assigned duties in a courteous and professional manner. Continuously and effectively interacting with visitors, guests, employees and the general public, providing instructions and responding to inquiries in a professional tone and manner. Primary responsibilities for the ASO's will include, but not be limited to: X-Ray Screener/Operator * Conduct calibration of the instrument before operation and as required. * Ensure that required logs are filled out at the beginning and end of shift. * Notify supervisors of any issues relating to the proper and safe operation of the instrument * Inspect hand carried and other items as required using color, dual generator x-ray machine to determine whether items contain objects that require further investigation in accordance with established procedures. * Ensuing that no other duties/activities interfere with the responsibilities of the post. Personnel Screener * Conduct calibration of the instrument before operation and as required. * Ensure that required logs are filled out at the beginning and end of shift. * Notify supervisors of any issues relating to the proper and safe operation of the instrument * Operation of and processing visitors through the Walk Through Metal Detector (WTMD) * Conducting secondary screening as necessary using a Hand Held Metal Detector (HHMD) in accordance with established procedure. * Engaging visitors in order to resolve any and all alarms in accordance with established procedure. * Ensuing that no other duties/activities interfere with the responsibilities of the post. Additional Duties * Assisting/providing relief to other positions as required * Assisting visitors being processed through the screening area * Instruct visitors on proper divesting procedures to minimize screening delays * Taking possession of prohibited items, in accordance with established procedures, for visitors entering the building * Issuing appropriate ID lanyards depending on the level of entry to the facility. * Returning items to visitors when leaving * Ensuring adequate materials are on-hand at the screening area * Conducting physical inspection of hand carried items as required in order to resolve any issues raised during x-ray. * Providing secondary review of x-ray images as required. * Conducting physical inspection of hand carried items that arrive at the loading dock that are to be retrieved by screened visitors. Other Duties may include staffing a non-Atrium related post. Qualifications * Minimum 5 years, hands-on experience, working with baggage x-ray machines, walk through metal detectors, hand held metal detectors and physical searches of items required. * Operational experience with Smiths Detection HI-SCAN 60402is or similar, dual generator x-ray machine and Ceia walk through and hand held metal detectors or equivalent is required. * Experience interpreting and understanding x-ray imagery is required. * Ability to use and interpret color images provided by the x-ray equipment. Non-assisted color perception, e.g., red, green, blue, yellow, orange, purple, brown, black, white and gray is required. * Recent, successful training and use of interviewing and suspicious behavior detection training is required. * Excellent interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills are required. * Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time is required * Ability to lift or move objects up to 50 lbs is required. * Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance is required. High school diploma required. Associates degree or specialized classes or specialized Security training preferred. Experience using a PC necessary and knowledge of DSX Access Control Software is a plus. First Responder, CPR, AED certification desired * Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
