The Pet Segment of Central Garden & Pet is searching for someone like you, a Sr. Sales Analyst, who can use their skills to analyze numerous data sets in pursuit of insights and recommendations that drive sales growth. You will play a key role in helping the organization achieve their goals and objectives. This position is an office based professional role with our Walmart team in Bentonville, AR; ideal candidates will reside in the Northwest Arkansas area.

We are an established Joint Business Planning (JBP) Partner looking to accelerate growth in a dynamic and fun Pet category!


  • Lead ad-hoc analysis of Point-of-Sale (POS), Consumer, Shopper, syndicated, and internal data to develop recommendations with specific action plans on how to address issues and improve economic profit, volume, and share growth. Key examples of analysis could include: distribution, promotional, category / channel / competitor trends, pricing execution, trade spending, etc.

  • Participate in maintaining and enhancing syndicated (Nielsen) databases across the pet category.

  • Develop, generate, and present key performance indicators (KPIs) and key reports for business unit leadership, and marketing and sales teams. Proactively assess and execute opportunities to improve data usage, with expertise in Retail Link a minimum requirement.

  • Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional partners such as Marketing, Sales, S&OP, Finance, and Master Data leadership teams.

  • Stay up-to-date on business trends, economic conditions, customer initiatives, and historical learning, future trends and provide decision support to business unit, marketing and sales teams.

  • Collaborate with the Sales Business Development Managers (BDM) to provide necessary analytics in preparation for line review, Joint Business Planning Meetings, internal meetings and any other data needs across our portfolio of brands and categories.

  • Work with Consumer Insights teams on special category projects

  • Provide analytic support to BDM


Required Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree with a business emphasis (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Marketing, etc.) required. Master's degree is a plus.

  • 5+ years relevant experience (e.g. category development, business analytics, store / merchandising / distribution, sales, or marketing).

  • Strong knowledge / ability to pull, cultivate and interpret syndicated data (Nielson / IRI, Panel Data) as well as advanced skills in Retail Link.

  • Strong computer literacy with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint.

  • Ability and confidence to interact with leadership in formal presentations regarding data and analytical recommendations.

  • Excellent and effective quantitative analytics.

  • Careful attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, including presentation skills.

  • Intellectual curiosity with the ability to embrace change.

  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.

  • Able to demonstrate a need to continuously improve quality, process and standards.

  • Ability to consolidate multiple data sources into one cohesive reporting tool.

  • Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Background in Consumer Product Goods (CPG) or syndicated data provider with a solid understanding of CPG sales.

  • Understanding of the Food, Drug, Mass, and Pet Specialty channels.

  • Knowledge in transactional systems such as SAP, COGNOS, Essbase, Shiloh, Logility.


  • Office based working conditions

  • Requires the willingness and ability to travel 10-15% of the time for customer meetings, industry events and business unit visits.
